The City of Montrose Building Department is dedicated to safeguarding health, property, and the public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location, and maintenance of all properties, buildings and structures defined by the City’s Code of Ordinances.

Whether you are a performing your own work as an Owner of a single-family dwelling or hiring a Building, Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Contractor, permits and plans may be required.

The city will attempt to conduct inspections within 48 hours of notification to the City Building Inspector. The Building Inspector can assist you to verify if permits and plans are needed and/or to discuss the review, approval, or permit application and issuance process.
